National Historical Landmark “Wada Pass” and the Paths of History

The Wada Pass is known as one of the most perilous spots along the Nakasendo route, as well as the most prominent place of origin for obsidian. Since the Palaeolithic and Jōmon period, the obsidian road was used to distribute obsidian resources across Japan. People have been traveling on the Obsidian Road that persists as a path of history up to the present day.
